Benefits of Promoting your Certification

While the goal of obtaining certification for most companies is to improve efficiency and reliability, it also includes the added benefit of differentiating you from your competitors and therefore is also a unique selling point that you should be sure to promote. After becoming certified, be sure to update your marketing materials to highlight your company’s increased quality control, cost control and accountability that has been achieved via certification.

Promoting your certification!

Overview

While certified companies are not obligated to actively promote or publicize their certification, if they choose to do so, it must be done in accordance with Orion’s, the Accreditation Body (AB), and the standards scheme holder requirements. Any use of certification that may tarnish the reputation of Orion and/or the certification, potentially eroding public trust, is strictly prohibited. If there is uncertainty about the correct approach, contacting the Orion team for clarification is encouraged.

The utilization of the Orion logo, as well as any AB or scheme holder’s logo, is permissible only after certification or accreditation has been granted by Orion. Upon certification by Orion, the client is entitled to use the certificate, along with the relevant accreditation and scheme holder logos, adhering to the guidelines outlined in this policy.

  1. Management System Certification

Orion Logo

Certified companies are authorized to utilize only the logos supplied by Orion, and any alterations to these logos are strictly forbidden. The images should be clear and sized appropriately to ensure the symbols are easily distinguishable. While the images may be scaled, it is imperative that the relative width and height remain unaltered.

For Management System Certifications, the logos may not be used directly on the product or convey any impression that the product is certified. For instance, if the logo is employed on boxes, it must explicitly state that the product was manufactured at a certified facility.

The use of the Orion logo is permissible on larger boxes, provided it explicitly indicates that the product was manufactured in a plant with a certified management system. This statement, however, should not imply that the product, process, or service is certified through this representation. It should encompass the following details: a) Identification (e.g., brand or name) of the certified client; b) The type of management system (e.g., quality, environment) and the relevant standard; c) The certification body that issued the certificate.

The Orion logo or marks may not be applied to laboratory test, calibration or inspection reports or certificates.

Accreditation Body Logo

For ANAB Accreditation standards, the AB body logo may be used only in conjunction with the Orion Logo.  Both logos must be of the same size and positioned beside each other.

For standards certified by other AB, the AB logo may not be used.

The AB logo may not be used on its own.

Alterations to the logos are not allowed, and the images must maintain clarity and proper sizing, with scaling permissible but without changing the relative width and height.

Neither Orion’s mark not the AB’s accreditation mark may not be used on the product or give any impression that the product is certified.

The use of the logos are permissible on larger boxes, provided it explicitly indicates that the product was manufactured in a plant with a certified management system. This statement, however, should not imply that the product, process, or service is certified through this representation. It should encompass the following details: a) Identification (e.g., brand or name) of the certified client; b) The type of management system (e.g., quality, environment) and the relevant standard; c) The certification body that issued the certificate.

IAF Logo

The use of the IAF logo is not permitted in any promotional material.

Complete / Accurate and Not Misleading

The certified company is prohibited from using the Orion, AB, or scheme holder logo in any manner that could tarnish Orion’s reputation. Furthermore, the company must refrain from making statements about their certification that might be deemed inaccurate, misleading, or unauthorized by Orion.

For instance, if a segment of your business is ISO 9001 certified, you should avoid making general statements in promotional materials that could imply the entire organization is certified. Remember, the scope of your certification, including the legal name, location or address, standard, scope statement, and certification body, is clearly defined on your certificate. This information must be prominently displayed on any promotional material. In case of changes to the scope of certification, promotional materials must be promptly updated.

If the company holds certifications to standards not granted by Orion, the logos of Orion, AB, or scheme holders must not imply or suggest that these other standards are certified or affiliated with Orion.

The certified company must not create an impression that the certification extends to activities and sites beyond the defined scope of certification. Any changes to the scope of certification necessitate immediate updates to all media to accurately reflect the current status.

Suspension, Withdrawl or Termination of Certification

In the event of certification suspension, withdrawal, or termination, the certified company is required to promptly cease the use of the Orion logo, AB, or any scheme holder’s logos. Furthermore, the company must promptly remove its certificate from its website and any promotional activities. If interested parties rely on the certification, they must be informed of the change in certification status.

Failure to remove the certification status may result in Orion publishing a notice on its website, indicating that false certification claims are being made. Additionally, Orion reserves the right to take legal action as deemed necessary.

The certified organization is not authorized to transfer the right to use the logos to or by any other body regardless of the relationship.  Any such requests must be submitted to and approved by Orion.

Orion auditors will review your marketing and promotional efforts during each audit to ensure your activities comply.

2. Product Certification (e.g. ANSI / BIFMA Level Program)

The use of the Orion logo on products or their individual packages, containers, etc., is not allowed, following the guidelines of the relevant Product Certification Standard, Program, or Scheme.

However, for each office or institutional furniture product certified under the ANSI/BIFMA e3 Standard, the Certification Mark (level logo) is permitted in promotional literature published by the applicant organization, its wholesalers, distributors, or retailers, as long as it is directly related to the certified product.

Promotional material must be truthful, accurate, and not misleading. It should clearly specify the product and the achieved level, aligning with the information on the current certificate. The promoted information must match the details on the current certificate. The LEVEL certification mark should not be used to indicate LEVEL labeling for every product from the applicant organization and should never imply a direct endorsement of the applicant organization or product by BIFMA.

Once certified, your product will be added to BIFMA’s level database. To ensure a complete and accurate listing, you must provide Orion with unique information such as the product name, description, images, and product URL. Delays in providing this information may result in your product not being displayed correctly.
